This story is also written by Val, the author of the popular What I Did For Love short love story. As you may have already guessed, this is another love story. This one is set in Korea and uses mostly the same names from the first story. However, it is NOT a sequel and is not related in any way to What I Did For Love. The names may be the same but they represent totally different people.
Chapter 1
“Let me out!” screamed a terrified eight year old boy. He was trapped in total darkness with no knowledge of what was going on outside. Tears streamed down Sung Hoon’s face as the realization of what was happening dawned on him.
He was playing hide-and-seek with two boys from his school. Their names were Eun Ji Won and Chu Tae Won. Sung Hoon was so happy when they invited him to join them. Sung Hoon was the most popular kid in school because his aunt was the famous actress Jung Yeh Ja but when her career faded away, so did all his friends. In reality, Sung Hoon didn’t have any real friends because most of them assumed he was too full of himself to play with his peers.
“Okay,” said Ji Won. “I’ll seek and you guys hide. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, …”
Sung Hoon jumped with excitement and started looking for a place to hide. He spotted a refrigerator near his house. Someone had probably wanted to throw it out and moved it onto the curb for garbage pickup. But Sung Hoon didn’t really care where it came from because it was a great hiding spot. Sung Hoon hid in the refrigerator for a while and then he heard Ji Won and Tae Won’s voices. He wondered what was going on and then he heard a noise.
“I hope you like it in there Sung Hoon!”
‘What?’ thought Sung Hoon. He tried to push open the door but it wouldn’t budge. He was trapped and started to gasp for air. He pounded on the door and screamed, “Let me out you guys!”
Ji Won just laughed. “Why don’t you ask your aunt Yeh Ja to help you? You act like you’re better than us just because she’s famous.”
Sung Hoon’s heart sank. He couldn’t believe it. He thought Ji Won and Tae Won were his friends but they were playing a prank on him. He began to cry. “I don’t act like I’m better.. please let me out,” he sobbed.
Tae Won began to laugh. “This will teach you a lesson!” Then he and Ji Won left.
In the dark, Sung Hoon sat and curled himself into a ball. He was terrified. He was scared of the dark and worse, he was afraid of being alone. Then he heard a knocking.
A soft voice called out, “Is someone in there?”
Sung Hoon stood up and banged his fists against the door. “Hurry up and let me out!”
“Wait!”
He heard wood sliding and the door suddenly swung open. Just as the light shined in he pushed his way out. He bent over and began breathing fast because the air in the refrigerator had gotten quite thin. Then a pair of Mary Janes came into his view. When he looked up, he saw a pair of big brown eyes staring back at him. It was a little girl in pig tails.
They looked at each other for a while and didn’t say anything. Then the girl looked down and kicked her foot into the dirt.
“Umm.. what were you doing in my fridge?”
Sung Hoon looked at her, turned around, and ran into his house. The girl stood there, confused by the odd boy.
